“Who’s been painting my roses red?!” Alice first meets the infamous Queen of Hearts as she bellows in rage at the sight of a white rose dripping with red paint in the royal garden beds. As she demands to know who’d dare taint the roses with vulgar paint, the card soldiers begin blaming one another for the deed. Believing them all to be responsible, the Queen orders their heads to roll. 

 

This backpack depicts that very scene on the front pocket, coupled with the Queen looming angrily above. Alice is seen helping the card soldiers paint the roses, fearing for their heads after learning why they were painting them in the first place. They’re bordered by a hedge of already painted roses, while the pocket’s enamel zipper charm is shaped just like one of their paintbrushes dipped in red. The body of the backpack is inspired by the Queen’s bold red, black, white and gold gown, while her head and royal collar are appliqued to the front and center. “Off with their heads!” is written on the back, accompanied by her heart-shaped sceptre.
